Bowling lanes at Mississauga’s Classic Bowl were packed as Local 1000A members gathered to bowl for a cure for sickle cell anemia on Sunday, July 17. Teams, decked out in theme costumes from the Alley Cats to the Mighty Canadians, raised about $1,100 for Faces of Our Children, an organization dedicated to raising awareness, support and funding for the fight against sickle cell disease worldwide.
UFCW Canada members, family and friends have raised more than $2,028,264 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada in the last 12 months. The achievement was announced on June 10 at the 22nd Annual Leukemia Gala, which drew hundreds of activists from across the country.
